“I want you to know in your bones that your only path to success is through a continuum of mundane, unsexy, unexciting, and sometimes difficult daily disciplines compounded over time.”
Darren Hardy, The Compound Effect
I absolutely love this book
Of all the self-improvement books I’ve read, this is one I think about all the time, refer to almost daily, and quote to other people.
There are rich memorable quotes all the way through. This book is about success, and what it really takes to achieve it.
I think it’s worth me revisiting at this time where I am working on my mindset, success factors, and sense of purpose.
Write out a few excuses
One of the early exercises asks you to write out a few excuses that you might be clinging to that is stopping you.
- Frequent breakdowns
- Overwhelmia
- Not enough me time
- Self-identity association with food
- Live in a small regional place
Darren Hardy suggests I decide to make up for these with hard work. He’s right.
